CARNAVAL preparations! Join us while we eat dinner and prepare centerpieces for the Carnaval, FEBRUARY 3rd, at 103 Hesburgh Center from 6:15pm till 8:45pm. Don’t miss out! Have first hand insight into the preparations of this huge event for our club!

Bate-Papo! Meet other Portuguese and/or Brazilian students while enjoying some good food, good music and also some Carnaval prepping discussions. At the CSLC (329 DeBartolo) at 7pm.

Hello all!
Long time no see! However, spring semester is back and we’re up and running once again! In the midst of planning our first “bate-papo” of 2010 (exciting! Lots of new students to greet) the officers of the Brazil Club and Portuguese Language Club are also busy organizing the annual Brazilian Carnaval. The Carnaval, hosted by the Kellogg Institute is one of the Institute’s most popular events, last year’s audience reaching up to 950 people!! Surely not an event to miss!

Este sábado, a 1:30 da tarde no CAREY AUDITORIUM, na biblioteca, vai passar CIDADE DE DEUS. Vai ser espetacular visto que este filme é sem sombra de dúvida um filme imperdível não só pros fanáticos do cinema mas também a aqueles interessados na cultura brasileira. Real e chocante, Cidade de Deus vai abrir seus olhos pra dura realidade de muitos no Brasil e no mundo afora.

This Saturday, at 1:30, at the CAREY AUDITORIUM in the Hesburgh library the movie CITY OF GOD will be playing. It’ll be spectacular seeing as how this is not a movie to be missed not only for cinema fanatics but to those interested in the Brazilian culture as well. Real and shocking, City of God will open your eyes to the harsh reality of many in Brasil and the the world.

Contaremos com a presença especial de três convidados, a professora de ciências políticas da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Isabel de Assis, André Luiz Farias de Souza do Instituto Universitário de Pesquisas do Rio de Janeiro e Tiago Fernandes do Departamento de ciências políticas e sociais do European University Institute.

Será um encontro casual e divertido entre os convidados especiais, os alunos de português e os alunos brasileiros aqui na universidade. Também teremos deliciosos doces brasileiros e guaraná pra todo mundo!

Hello dears!

This Thursday, October 8th, we will have our first Bate-Papo! It will take place in the Multipurpose room of the CSLC, 329 DeBartolo, from 7-9pm. We’ll have three special guests, Political Science professor Isabel de Assis from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, André Luiz Farias de Souza from the University Institute of Research of Rio de Janeiro, and Tiago Fernandes from the Political and Social Science Department at the European University Institute.

It’ll be a casual and fun meeting between the special guests, Portuguese language students and Brazilian students who attend Notre Dame. We’ll also have delicious Brazilian sweets and guaraná (soda) for everyone!
